Always wanted to learn how to paint with oils successfully? This is a one-day workshop that will allow you to learn to PLAY with your paints – interact with your own creativity and surprise yourself with the results under the expert guidance of award-winning artist Denise Hogan.
Do you enjoy painting? Would you like to learn how to improve your painting by learning new techniques or improving on your existing skills?
Learning to paint is about the time you spend at your easel, actually painting. It’s about learning from your mistakes and successes. It’s also about taking workshops and classes with a professional artist to help you find your way out of any issues you may be having with your painting. It’s about getting real and objective critiques on your work that will affirm what you are doing correctly and show you the areas in which you can improve.
Award-winning artist and teacher Denise Hogan has a wealth of experience in both teaching and in her own practise of painting.
In Denise’s one-day workshops you will find yourself in a welcoming atmosphere of learning and fun in which you can relax and absorb your new knowledge.
Start at the very beginning under her professional guidance and encouragement. Learn how to choose a suitable image to work from (or ideally, bring your own – whatever it is you love looking at will be the easiest subject for you to paint), how to easily create that image on canvas and bring the whole painting to life – simply, easily and whilst having the most fun.
Like Denise’s regular weekly classes you will learn how to look at Art, how to read Art and how to communicate with your materials. No experience is necessary. All are welcome from complete beginners to experienced painters, the only requirement is your willingness to ‘give it a go’, your openness to your own creativity and your sense of fun!…. Your teacher will help & advise you, but will also encourage your learning by ensuring you create your own finished piece…. Please do adjust your expectations of the day according to your level of experience…. enjoy where you are in your journey wherever that is… Everyone will be working on their own image at their own pace so there is no pressure to keep up with anyone but yourself!
All the materials you will need are provided, including paints, brushes, canvas, sketching materials and image library. You are encouraged to bring your own image to inspire you or you may choose from our small library of art books and lessons here at the studio.
The workshops run from 10am – 5pm with refreshments available all day. There is a break at midday to enjoy a home cooked lunch.
Book your place early to avoid disappointment.
