Watercolor painting is extremely old, dating perhaps to the cave paintings of paleolithic Europe. Embark on a day’s learning with Award-Winning Artist Denise Hogan exploring this beautiful art form to create your own gorgeous painting in just one day.
Denise’s mission has always been to “Take the ‘O’ out of Ort’. She will dispel any of those myths you may have heard about this exciting translucent paint such as ‘watercolours are difficult’… Rubbish! Under Denise’s expert guidance, watercolours become easy.
Award-winning artist and teacher Denise Hogan has a wealth of experience in both teaching and in her own practise of painting.
In Denise’s one-day workshops you will find yourself in a welcoming atmosphere of learning and fun in which you can relax and absorb your new knowledge.
Start at the very beginning under her professional guidance and encouragement. Learn how to choose a suitable image to work from (or ideally, bring your own – whatever it is you love looking at will be the easiest subject for you to paint), how to easily create that image on paper and bring the whole painting to life – simply, easily and whilst having the most fun.
Like Denise’s regular weekly classes you will learn how to look at Art, how to read Art and how to communicate with your materials. No experience is necessary. All are welcome from complete beginners to experienced painters, the only requirement is your willingness to ‘give it a go’, your openness to your own creativity and your sense of fun!….
Your teacher will help & advise you, but will also encourage your learning by ensuring you create your own finished piece…. Everyone will be working on their own image at their own pace so there is no pressure to keep up with anyone but yourself!
All the materials you will need are provided, including paints, brushes, paper (high quality bamboo & cotton watercolour paper), boards, sketching materials and image library. You are encouraged to bring your own image to inspire you or you may choose from our small library of art books and lessons here at the studio.
The workshops run from 10am – 5pm with refreshments available all day. There is a break at midday to enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch.
Book your place early to avoid disappointment.
